Equestrian Production Cancels 2003 U.S. Tour
January 7, 2003 -
Cheval-Theatre (USA) Inc., a
Delaware Corporation, announced today the cancellation of the 2003 U.S. tour
of CHEVAL, the equestrian production created by Gilles
Ste-Croix, citing financial concerns. “Despite strong reviews and ticket
sales, the tremendous expense of maintaining this level of production,
especially in an uncertain economy, has been challenging.” stated Ste-Croix.
“We need to take a strong look at how we want to proceed. But for now the
tour is on hold.”
The tour of CHEVAL
ran in eight U.S. cities including Denver, San Jose, Costa Mesa, Dallas and
most recently Las Vegas. CHEVAL was scheduled to open in Los
Angeles on January 23, 2003 and San Francisco in mid- February 2003. No
other cities or venues had been set.
CHEVAL
is an integration of the capabilities of
horses and the artistry of humans. More than 30 horses of 15 distinct breeds
perform in a 46-foot center ring.
