Bill Enk Becomes National Reined Cow Horse Association Director of Judges

January 4, 2003 - Bill Enk has been appointed as the National Reined Cow Horse Association Director of Judges.

According to NRCHA Judging Committee Chairman Todd Crawford, Enk accepted the position in mid-December. "We're excited about taking this step for the NRCHA of having a person dedicated to developing the judging program," commented Crawford. "We think that Bill, with his broad judging experience, is the perfect choice for the position."

Enk, an NRCHA Judge for over 25 years, is also a National Cutting Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association, American Paint Horse Association, USA Equestrian, and National Reining Horse Association judge.

A lifelong horseman, Enk worked as a trainer, and his resume includes a stint working for NRCHA Hall of Fame trainer Ronnie Richards. He and his wife, Colleen, own and operate River Ranch outside Paso Robles, California.

He's enthusiastic about the new position. "I'm delighted to have the opportunity to try to give something back to the cow horse industry that's been a part of my life for so long,"

His immediate goals for the NRCHA judging program include increasing the standards for and consistency of judging reined cow horses. "I want to work to develop a more consistent way of judging fence work, specifically, through seminars, creating training materials and working closely with the NRCHA Judges Committee."

He'll also provide leadership as the judge's monitor at major National Reined Cow Horse Association events, and coordinate protests, judges reviews and handle other administrative details.

"Mostly," he concluded. "The members of the Judges Committee and I will work toward creating a structure to get everyone on the same page as far as how reined cow horses are judged."
